Shakespeare: Print & Performance online course
In September 2016, a free online course, open to all, looking at Shakespeare's work in a new and exciting way was held by King's, Shakespeare's Globe and the British Library.
The course featured academics, curators, publishers, actors, musicians and theatre directors and took participants on a journey into Shakespeare’s early modern world. Starting first on the Globe Theatre stage, to find out about performance practices both in the present day capital and in Early Modern London. The practitioners at the Globe examined the processes and conditions that were at the heart of the Shakespearean playhouse.
The British Library gave participants exclusive access to some priceless manuscripts and early printed texts in their archives. This allowed for a discovery into how the early modern book trade shaped the journey of Shakespeare's text from stage to page through the centuries.
The course will run again in October 2017. Booking details to follow.
