Sonnet 130

Meaning: Basically, Shakespeare is making fun of love poems that compare the lover to beautiful things, as these are over-exaggerating and unrealistic. But by the end of the sonnet, he is saying that his woman isn’t a goddess, she walks on the ground like a normal human. His love is rare anyway, so he ends the poem by being more romantic for being truthful.

Response: To write a poem about how what you see isn’t always the truth.
